Township Number

The first two digits designate the survey township number. Beginning with most northwesterly township, they are numbered from left to right beginning with the number 01.

The next two digits represent the section number within the township.

The next three digits define the quarter-section within the section. In urban areas where there are many parcel blocks in a quarter-section, the last two of the three digits identify a specific parcel block.
